About Thumbscript™:

Thumbscript is a universal text input system designed for all kinds of handheld devices.  Thumbscript instantly makes your phone keypad into a fast, complete keyboard.  Now you can "type" at 10 words per minute with no computer guessing or mode shifting for punctuation or symbols.  The unique idea behind Thumbscript is to see the 9 buttons of the keypad as a simple drawing slate.

To use Thumbscript for WAP enabled phones, "type" the letters on the keypad by pressing the START key (solid red dot) then the STOP key (hollow red dot) for each letter. Here is the complete alphabet:

Thumbscript letters are made to remind you of the standard alphabet. Just print this page for a complete Thumbscript key.  Weíll explain the fine points below.  Here is how to try out our new WAP website:

http://www.thumbscript.com/wap/   Our Wireless Test Site

Our WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) website is accessed through Internet enabled cellular phones.  Using your wireless browser software, enter the above URL into your favorites list.  Don't forget the final backslash.  (Site requires real phone, not emulator)

You will be prompted to input the sender, recipient, subject and body of your e-mail (in Thumbscript of course) and your message will be sent.  You will also receive a confirmatory copy, directed to your e-mail address. As you enter text in Thumbscript, you will see numbers on the screen.  On the next screen, they will be translated into text just as you entered it.

Note that the "@" sign for e-mail addresses, (5-2), is a "backwards" two. The @ is paired with the number 2, just as it is on any keyboard.

Testers: The site has been optimized for Nokia and Phone.com microbrowsers. If you have a different browser, please e-mail to info@thumbscript.com and we'll work with you to set up the site for your browser.

Learning the Alphabet:

The fastest way to learn the alphabet is to repeat the alphabet in order from A to Z several times.  First copy, then do it by memory.  You can use our Desktop Demo, or our Palm OS Demo, downloadable from our website, or our paper and pencil learning sheet, also downloadable in PDF format from www.thumbscript.com.

Now the Fine Points of Thumbscript:

Punctuation and Symbols are formed by reversing START and STOP.  (See symbols to the right of letters on the key above)

Commands like TAB, RETurn and the period and comma are formed by double-pressing the same key.

Numbers are made by pressing the number key, then the 5 key.  For the 5 itself, just double-press.  For the zero, enter a reversed letter "O."  Reverse START & STOP for associated punctuation.

Note the three rules of Thumbscript:  1.  All letters go from top to bottom or left to right.  2.  The vowels E,I,O,U, all go straight across the keypad.  3.  All letters start at one of the outer keys of the keypad, pass through the center, and end on an outer key.

About the WAP Test Site:

Thumbscript Development, LLC has created this WAP site to allow direct comparison of Thumbscript with other input methods.  We know it would be better if you could see the letters as you input them, but making that an option requires a change in the built-in software in your handset.  We want to show service providers and handset makers that those few lines of code should be part of every handset.

We hope you enjoy Thumbscript. Please e-mail your feedback (info@thumbscript.com) or post a message on our Forum.
